A definition of Planetary Health from the Planetary Health Alliance

 

Planetary Health is a solutions-oriented, transdisciplinary field and social movement focused on analysing and addressing the impacts of human disruptions to Earth's natural systems on human health and all life on Earth.

 

A home-made definition

Planetary health is an analysis and search for solutions to the health problems for humans and nature on earth, caused by human activities.

 

This subject was stimulated by two books.

1. Planetary Health safeguarding Human health and the environment in the Anthropocene. Andy Haines, Howard Frumkin

2. Planetary health protecting nature to protect ourselves Edited by Samuel Myers and Howard Frumkin

We are inversing the sequence of ideas in these books by using the motivation of protecting ourselves, to protect nature, which of course then protects us.
